KIDS & YOUTH ON SUNDAY: FAQS

We’ve put together some frequently asked questions to help you know what’s happening in Parklands Kids and how things are working!

WHAT IS RUNNING?

As part of our service gathering we will have a dedicated Kids slot for the whole family to join in with. We think it’s important that we have moments together as family, plus this provides for kids joining us online!

In the building, we’ll have a toddler group for walkers to 3 year olds, and then groups for Infants (reception-year 3) and Juniors (years 3-6). We’ll spend time in our small groups, and then some activities we’ll join with another age group.

WHAT WILL MY KIDS DO?

Lots of things, but most imortantly we want Church to be fun! Each week we’ll look at a different story or theme in the Bible, and unpack it together through games, stories and craft. We’ll also have times of prayer and worship, and lots of play too!

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT MY KIDS ARE GETTING UP TO?

We let families know about the content we’re looking at, or any important information via email. To receive these emails you simply need to sign up for ChurchSuite and make sure your kids are registered on there too.

You can also email Mike for Kids: [email protected] or Dan for Youth: [email protected]

DO I NEED TO BOOK?

Nope you can just turn up! We used to ask families to book a space but we don’t need this to happen anymore. Spaces are first come first served on a Sunday morning. Occasionally, if we’re really busy or low on Kids Team, then we may have to cap the groups on Sunday but we do everything we can to avoid this happening!

WHY ARE THERE CAPACITIES ON GROUP SIZES?

We have capacities on our group sizes and ratios, in line with safeguarding guidance that we have to work within to help keep everyone safe. You can read our safeguarding policy here.  It means everyone can have the best and safest time!

MY CHILD ISN'T FEELING WELL, CAN THEY STILL COME?

If your child is unwell, we would ask you to stay at home for that week, to help us keep everyone safe and healthy. Children with diarrhoea and / or vomiting should not come along until at least 48 hours after their symptoms have gone. We also need you to stay home if you, your child, or anyone in your house, feels unwell, or shows any symptoms of or similar to Covid-19.

WHERE WILL MY KIDS BE?

In our building we have a variety of rooms and spaces for Kids and Youth groups. At the moment our Kids are in the small hall and side rooms, with Youth upstairs.

WHAT ARE THE TIMINGS ON A SUNDAY?

At our 10.30am gathering, we’ll all worship together for the first 15 minutes, followed by our Kids slot, and then Kids will head into groups at around 10.50am, and finish up for the end of the service at 11.45am-12pm.

WHERE DO I NEED TO GO ON ARRIVAL?

Kids Check In is located at the back of the main gathering space, next to the big Connect banner. A member of the Kids Team will be there before the service to sign your kids in and explain where they will go.

I HAVE A BABY, WHAT CAN I DO?

Your kids are more than welcome to stay and be a part of the gathering, but if your child is unsettled or you want some space for them we have spaces you can go with toys and mats at the back of the gathering space.

WHO LOOKS AFTER MY KIDS?

Our fantastic Kids Team! All of our team have been through our safer recruitment process, safeguarding training and have DBS checks so you’re in safe hands.

WHAT SHOULD THEY BRING WITH THEM?

As little as possible please! We’ll provide drinks and we have loads of toys & activities. Please don’t send your kids in with their own toys – we don’t want them to get lost.

WHAT IF MY CHILD WON'T SETTLE IN A GROUP?

Whilst we ask parents and carers not on team to drop your kids off, you can enter the room to help the transition. A team member will come and get you if your child is upset.

WHAT ABOUT TOILETING?

If your child needs a nappy changing during the gathering we will come and get you to do that. If your child is currently potty training please let us know on arrival and we’ll try to ensure there are no accidents. We have toilets available to the Kids and they will be assisted as appropriate.

MY CHILD HAS ADDITIONAL NEEDS- ARE THE GROUPS SUITABLE?

We want to provide an environment where every child can encounter Jesus and explore faith, whatever their needs. Please get in touch with us if you need more information. We would love to meet you and your kids, and make sure they get the best support.

CAN I JOIN THE TEAM?

Absolutely! We are always looking for people to come alongside the kids! To resister your interest and for more information, click here.
