Jesus’ I Ams!

We are currently exploring the “I am” statements of Jesus, discovering what he taught about himself and what this reveals about who he was – and who God is.

Sunday 1st February 2026 – I Am the Good Shepherd
Sarah is leading Kids Church this week.

This session will explore why Jesus is our Good Shepherd. We will see that he protects and provides for us. In John 10:10, Jesus is saying that in order to experience the fullness of life that he offers, we need to learn to trust and rely on him  – just as sheep trust and rely on their shepherd.

Sunday 8th February 2026 – I Am the Resurrection
Sarah is leading Kids Church this week.

The aim of this session is to help the children unpack Jesus’ saying that He is the resurrection and the life. In today’s story we see Jesus reanimating a close friend – Lazarus. Jesus gave him back life on what was essentially a temporary basis but he used the episode to demonstrate that the eternal life he has to offer is as real as the life that Lazarus regained.

Sunday 15th February 2026 – I Am the way
Rhian is leading Kids Church this week.

This session will unpack why Jesus is the only way. There is more to Jesus being the way than simply salvation. The Bible tells us that, “He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy” (Hebrews 10:14). He is the only way to become holy too – we learn everything we need to know from him; he shows us the pitfalls to avoid; he gives us joy in all circumstances; he helps us pause and admire the view; he inspires us; encourages us; spurs us on; demonstrates how to truly love others. If we don’t follow him, we’ll never get there. He is the only way.

Sunday 22nd February 2026 – I Am the True Vine
Emily and Gareth are leading Kids Church this week.

We get to be ‘gardened’ by God! He loves us, tends to us, encourages growth in us. He protects us from all the slugs that would want to nibble at our tender shoots! But this passage notes the serious consequences of not remaining a part of the vine too. If we decide we’re not going to stick with Jesus, if we refuse to produce fruit then the outlook is bleak to say the least. God is so passionate about us that he wants to see us reach our full potential – to be truly fruitful. In this session we will learn what it means for Jesus to say, ‘I am the vine’ and what it means for us to be the branches.

Sunday 1st March 2026 – I Am the Alpha and the Omega
Emily and Gareth are leading Kids Church this week.

Jesus was alive long before all that we know (and don’t know) and will continue to exist after everything we know passes away. We begin in him and find our end in him – the purpose for which we were created. In this session we will explore what it means for Jesus to be the Alpha and Omega.
