WHAT IS A SERVICE LIKE?

WELCOME

We welcome people of all ages, shapes, ethnicity and backgrounds. At Parklands, community and family is at the heart of all we do, and we hope you feel wanted and loved as soon as you walk through the door.

KIDS AND YOUTH

Kids and Youth are an invaluable part of our family. On a Sunday we have teams committed to help kids engage with God through games, crafts, multi-media, stories and fun! In the building, we’ll have a Toddler group for walkers to recption aged children and then groups for recption to year 6, as well as a Youth group for school years 7-9.

Have any questions? Check out some FAQs here.

WORSHIP

We are passionate about worship and making it relevant and accessible to all. Playing a mix of old and new the worship team tend to use contemporary songs and music to help us all engage with God.

PRAYER

Prayer is at the heart of all we do. During the service there may be times to pray altogether, to respond to the talk, or a chance to receive prayer from a member of our team. This will never be forced on you, and we will always explain any ministry times that may happen.

TEACHING

We love the Bible and believe it brings colour and life to our lives. Each week we have a 25-30 minute talk that helps us unpack the Bible and how it’s teachings apply to our every day lives.

TEA, COFFEE AND CHAT

After our  service we invite you all to stay behind for some refreshments as we spend time chatting and getting to know each other. For those joining online, a virtual coffee and chat is available.

LIVESTREAM

We know there are many who would love to join us on a Sunday but are unable to due to illness, distance, work and other factors and we’d still love to resource you and stay connected as family. We livestream our 11.15am service each Sunday and they stay on our YouTube channel so that you can watch them when it suits you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN IS THE SERVICE?

Our Sunday gathering services are at 9.15am and 11.15am. You can watch our service online via YouTube at 11:15am.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

Our address is: Maes Y Gollen, Sketty, Swansea SA2 8HQ. You can find directions here:

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Come as you are but preferably come wearing some clothes to save our blushes!  There’s no dress-code, we want people to feel comfortable and most of us are in jeans or shorts in the summer, but if you want to dress up, we love that too.

HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?

Our first service is from 9:15am – 10.30am, whilst our second service runs from 11:15am-12:30pm. Please join us for a time of community between 10:35am and 11:10am for tea, coffee and biscuits! This is a great chance to connect with each other and build relationships. On the last Sunday of each month we have a very tasty brunch – you will not want to miss it!

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

We have a car park next to our church building, but spaces can be limited – especially during larger events. While we encourage everyone to use the car park if space is available, you may sometimes need to park in the surrounding neighbourhood. If so, please be considerate of our neighbours by not blocking driveways or parking in front of dropped kerbs.

As an alternative, there is a car park adjacent to Parkland Primary School and behind Parklands Court just a short walk away. Access to this car park is via Sketty Park Drive – take a left at the roundabout onto New Mill Road and the second left from there.

DO I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING?

No. During the service a bucket/basket may be passed along the rows in which you are able to make donations to the church, but this is not compulsory. We also have the option to give online here.

CAN I BRING MY KIDS?

Yes, absolutely! As part of our service gatherings, we worship together in both services. Following this time, our children and young people will have their very own time together! For those little ones who are four years and younger, we have a toddler room where they can play, dance, enjoy a story and take part in an activity. For those in reception to year 6, there is a separate group where they will have the opportunity to learn more about what it means to walk with Jesus. For our youth in years 7 and above, they have their own space where they take part in a Bible study, enjoy some games and maybe have a snack or two!

DO YOU HAVE WHEELCHAIR ACCESS?

The meeting room is laid out with wheelchair access in mind. The aisles are sufficiently wide to navigate a wheelchair through, and we keep a space clear at the front where wheelchair users can sit and see the screens easily. There is also a disabled accessible toilet in the main hallway.

CAN I WATCH ONLINE?

Absolutely! We know there are many who would love to join us on a Sunday but are unable to due to illness, distance, work and other factors and we’d still love to resource you and stay connected as family. We livestream our 11.15am service each Sunday and they stay on our YouTube channel so that you can watch them when it suits you. Click here to watch.

BE GREETED!

We know that for many visiting a church can be a leap into the unknown. If you would love to come but are not sure what to expect we would love to introduce you to a friendly face before the gathering. They will then sit with you throughout the service and answer any questions you may have.

How would you prefer to be contacted?
